2. Topic
moodle.schoolnet.lk,
e-learning, web
3. Introduction
For
the HCI pair group project we selected schoolnet.lk, a leading e-learning
website currently being managed through the Ministry of Education and EKSP. Schoolnet
provides a wide area of educational resources and benefits to all the
government school students in Sri Lanka. Despite the success of this e-learning
website, still there are some areas to be concerned from the user’s point of
view.

8. Features
to be Improved
·
A
drop down menu list to browse the course categories and the sub categories can
be added so that students can easily browse the content of the website.
·
Website
heading should be named properly as “Schoolnet” instead of having default
moodle logo.
·
Search
box should be placed on top right corner rather than having it at the
bottom.
·
The
important notices and news should be pointed out properly with a JavaScript gad
at the top of the front page.
·
Use
of more color combinations, pictures slideshows
·
A
student community forum can be added so that students can share their thoughts
·
A
feedback bar would be an additional advantage so that the administrators can
get the reviews of the users
·
Adding
a video bar could be an additional advantage so that both students and teachers
can learn in a much realistic way
·
Login
panel should be developed more (use of profile image)
·
A
list of social share buttons widget can be more useful to share the content via
the social networks
·
A
Contact Form and About page at the bottom of the site can be more useful
instead of the larger content currently being added at the right of the layout
·
Making
it easy for visitors to subscribe email delivery when publishing new
posts/articles by adding a “follow by email” gadget
·
A
separate gadget for all downloads could be more useful so that the students can
easily navigate to the downloads
·
A
privacy policy term and copyrights statement can be added to state the
permission and rights of the website at the bottom
·
A
separate link to upload student documents submissions to the website
